International Scope of Wound Management (ISWM) is an international, interdisciplinary scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge and objectively improving outcomes in chronic wound care and diabetes-related foot disease—among the most urgent yet underrecognized global health challenges of our time.
Despite significant advances in medical science and technology, chronic wounds continue to impose a substantial clinical, social, economic, and psychological burden on individuals, families, and health systems worldwide. ISWM was founded to address this challenge by providing a unified global platform that integrates basic science, clinical research, public health, and health systems innovation, with a focus not only on global equity but also on equitable care at the population level.
Through rigorous peer review and international collaboration, ISWM promotes high-quality, clinically relevant, and translational research aimed at improving real-world practice and objectively sharing outcomes. The journal places particular emphasis on strategies for preventing wound development, halting disease progression, and reducing complications, rather than focusing solely on the reduction of preventable amputations.
ISWM welcomes contributions across the full spectrum of wound management research, with a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, ethical responsibility, and both global and population-level equity in care. By connecting researchers, clinicians, and health systems worldwide, the journal seeks to foster scalable, global solutions, advance evidence-based wound management, prevent avoidable disease escalation, and ultimately improve quality of life for individuals affected by chronic wounds.
